Honestly, it doesn't get better than this.

Durango is undeniably home to some of the world's best single track mountain biking, road biking, down hill riding, and good old fashioned fat tire fun. Surrounded by nearly 2,000 miles of trails, hundreds of miles of which are single-track, Durango is often referred to as the Mecca of mountain biking. With virtually endless miles of trails and roads, you can pick a new ride each day, and better yet, it won't be overcrowded!

So, whether you are a professional racer looking for a white-knuckled downhill mountain bike run, a weekend warrior on a rolling trail through the meadow, or a casual observer meandering along the Animas River Trail through downtown, don't leave Durango without experiencing this world class biking destination on two wheels.

Stop by the Visitor Center for trail maps. See a listing of some local mountain biking trails.

Fun Fact: The Iron Horse Bike Classic began in 1972. Road bikers race the D&SNGRR to Silverton on Memorial Day weekend. It is the longest continuously run cycling event in the United States.

SPECIAL EVENTS: We take biking seriously, so you may want to plan to be here for one of our several annual biking events, which include the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic where you can race the train to Silverton, the MTB 100, a 100-mile bike race through the San Juan Mountains, or the Ski Bike America Festival, the perfect combination of winter fun and biking.
