Durango Beer Week, September 16-24

Enjoy Delicious Food and Suds,at one of Durango’s New Favorite Events

Celebrate “The City of Brewerly Love” with over a week’s worth of beer-themed events hosted by the award-winning breweries in Durango.Durango Beer Week kicks off Friday, September 16 with a celebratory Brewer’s Feast for Steamworks’ (801 E. 2nd Ave.) 15th anniversary. Enjoy five courses of delectable cuisine from Chef Sean Clark paired with delicious craft beers courtesy of master brewer Ken Martin.

Saturday, celebrate sustainable living and the coming of fall at Durango Oktoberfest, a German-themed family festival held in historic downtown Durango and hosted by the San Juan Citizens Alliance. With arts & crafts, face painting, and pumpkin carving for the kids, as well as specialty brews and some rockin’ blues by headliners Moreland & Arbuckle for the adults, there’s something for everyone at Durango Oktoberfest.

Sunday, head to the El Rancho Tavern (975 Main Ave.) for a foosball tournament starting at noon. The action will be fast and furious as players command their team of acrylic footballers on to foosball glory and a number of cash prizes. For more information call El Rancho at (970) 259-8111.

Monday, Carver Brewing Company (1022 Main Ave.) hosts a Brewer’s Brunch. Enjoy specialty craft beers paired with specially prepared dishes and classic breakfast and brunch favorites. Who says you can’t have beer for breakfast?

Tuesday night, head over to Lady Falconburgh’s (640 Main Ave.) for Beer Bingo. Tip a few back and play bingo for free for great prizes from the Ska, Durango, and New Belgium brewing companies including hats, t-shirts, and even a keg!

Test your bar-sports prowess on Wednesday at 5pm at the Durango Brewing Brewathalon (3000 Main Ave). Compete for prizes and glory in a variety of bar-sports events including shuffleboard, ring toss, and more.

On Thursday there are two beer-themed events in Durango, meaning twice the fun. Start the day by having a delicious brew or two in a beer-themed benefit at Steamworks. From 11am until close, bring in a pint glass from any of the four Durango breweries and fill them for $1. Fill up on suds and support local brewing at this event benefitting the Colorado Brewer’s Guild.

The fun doesn’t stop on Thursday as Downtown Colorado, Inc. hosts the Durango Area Tourism Office/Ska Brewing SKA-B-Q (225 Girard St.). Well known in Durango for throwing some of the best parties in the area, Ska Brewing brings together the best in food, beer, and live music for an evening celebrating all the things that make Downtown Durango special.

Friday, strap on your helmet and take a Bike Tour of the Breweries, taking visitors behind the scenes of all four breweries in Durango via bicycle. Learn the ins and outs of creating award-winning craft beers while sampling a few along the way on a tour that takes visitors around Durango and ends at The Balcony Bar & Grill (600 Main Ave.), a Durango favorite.

Finally, on Sunday, celebrate at the Ska Brewing Company’s 16th Anniversary Party. Featuring pours from 20 regional breweries from 4-9pm, enjoy the up-tempo brass antics of legendary ska band The Toasters. Come have a few delicious craft beers and dance the evening away with great music, food, and fun at Ska Brewing.
