Durango Okboterfest 2011

Celebrate Fall with Food, Friends, Family, and Fun

Visit Main Street in historic downtown Durango for an afternoon of food, friends, family, and fun at Durango Oktoberfest 2011, held September 17 from 11am to 4pm. Kicking off Durango Beer Week and hosted by the San Juan Citizens Alliance, this one-day festival draws the Durango area’s best breweries, restaurants, vendors, and musicians together in a celebration of sustainability, family fun, and everything that makes fall in Durango, Colorado truly special.

There’s something for everyone at Durango Oktoberfest. Adults can enjoy specialty taps brewed specifically for the occasion, and kids can enjoy pumpkin carving, face painting, kid-sized craft projects, and a bouncy castle sponsored by the Children’s Museum. Visitors of all ages can enjoy music by polka band The Alpiners, some rockin’ country from Midnight Backhand, and the electric blues stylings of Moreland & Arbuckle. Compete in a brat eating constest or root on your favorite brewer in the stein race and barrel roll competition. Enjoy German-themed foods, novelties, games, and more.

Blues on the Rails
Choo Choo with the blues… it was no ordinary ride on the scenic steam train and I missed it. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge train pulled out of the rail yard last Saturday as the “Durango Blues Train” for an evening of Blues on the Rails.
