Next Stop: The North Pole! This holiday ride is fun for the entire family and kids as the Durango and Silverton Railroad brings the the Polar Express™, inspired by the award winning book by Chris Van Allsburg, to life. Adults and children alike can enjoy this trip as you celebrate the magic of the Christmas spirit on a round trip journey to the "North Pole."
Just like in the story, kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas as their tickets are punched and they climb aboard the historic coal fired steam engine. The conductor yells “All Aboard” as the trip to the North Pole departs and as the train leaves the depot, concessionaires dressed in chef’s coats and hats begin serving hot chocolate and cookies. Once everyone has been served, the Polar Express™ story is read over the PA system and a helper in each car walks up and down the aisle with the book to turn the pages and show everyone the pictures.
The story finishes just as you arrive at the North Pole and the lights will dim as an announcement is made to start watching for Santa.
The North Pole will be lit with thousands of Christmas lights and Santa and his helpers will be there to greet the Polar Express™ as it pulls in. Santa will greet the children and climb aboard for a return trip and, just like in the story, hand out a special gift for each child.
While Santa is moving through the cars and greeting the children, the Christmas spirit continues as a song leader in each car passes out song books of Christmas carols. All the way back, the train is alive with cheer as everyone sings carols together to finish the trip. This one-of-a-kind, unforgettable trip will give your family memories to share together for years to come.
