Durango Discovery Package
Durango has long been known for a rich cultural heritage and history but is less well known for its long history of scientific exploration and innovation. The new Durango Discovery Museum is one great example of Durango's bustling scientific community and our long history of scientific innovation. The new Discovery Museum brings the family-friendly fun and excitement of a children's museum together with its commitment to inspiring energy exploration, curiosity, and imagination!
Built in one of the world's first AC power plants in 1893, this historic building was once the hub of AC energy for Western Colorado and powered the street lights of downtown long before the great cities of the East. Today, the Durango Discover Museum is building a future of energy innovation and exploration for the next generation.
Families can come to explore interactive exhibits and activities that make science exciting and fun! For example, explorers can learn about photosynthesis from a life-sized tree (the eTree exhibit) with leaves that mimic solar panels, or learn about Earth Science, energy, climate and our relationship to the environment by manipulating data connected to a 30-inch 3-D globe (the Magic Planet exhibit)!
Come and explore this hands-on, interactive science center for all ages and enjoy some good old fashioned "geeking out."
