Cultural World Heritage Package

This unique cultural adventure will take you through Durango's unique and distinctive heritage to explore the remnants of some of the Southwest's first resident’s, the ancestral Puebloan culture. You will tour 2 of only 20 World Heritage sites in the U.S. with full day, all-inclusive tours of both Mesa Verde National Park and Chaco Canyon National Historic Park, major centers of Puebloan culture more than 800 years ago. In addition, you can also optionally enjoy an active archaeological dig at Crow Canyon Archeological Center or a back-country horseback ride to the Ute Mountain Tribal Park, home to some of the world's most undiscovered and untouched Puebloan ruins.

Mesa Verde

Package Includes: 

  • Lodging in Durango at your choice of available partner lodging options (4 nights is highly recommended to enjoy 3 full day activities).
  • A full day, guided tour to Mesa Verde National Park with entrance to the park, all park fees, lunch and hotel pick up and drop off included.
  • A full day, guided tour to Chaco Canyon with entrance to the park, all park fees, lunch and hotel pick up and drop off included.
  • A full day, guided tour to Crow Canyon Archaeological Center including a hot lunch (Available in the summer months on Wednesday and Thursday only)

Description:
Day 1 - Crow Canyon Archaeological Center or Ute Mountain Tribal Park Tour:

In the summer months you will drive to Crow Canyon Archaeological Center and examine artifacts and enhance your Mesa Verde / Chaco Canyon tours with an in-depth understanding of Southwestern archaeology and ancestral Pueblo history - including a delicious hot lunch on the campus.

We also recommend taking beautiful horseback ride into the Ute Mountain Tribal Park where you will experience the west as its most Wild and even see some of the west's last wild horses.

Day 2:
Your hand chosen guides, experts of Archaeology, Anthropology, and Geology, will pick you up at your hotel and take you out for a full-day tour of Mesa Verde National Park, home to some of the most notable and best-preserved archaeological sites in the United States.

Day 3:
Your guide will again pick you up for to depart to Chaco Canyon National Historic Park - a major center of Puebloan culture which began in roughly 850AD and lasted for more than 300 years, known and remembered for the monumental scale of its architecture, the complexity of its ceremonial life, the high level of its community social organization, and the far-reaching nature of its commerce.
