Create Your Memories From Our Corner of the World Built in 1887 the historic Strater Hotel (Historic Hotel of America Member) is one of the West’s iconic hotels and a prominent downtown Durango, Colorado landmark located two blocks north of the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, one hour from the Mesa Verde National Park, several hours from the Four Corners Monument, and deep in the heart of the rugged San Juan Mountains where mineral hot springs abound. The Strater Hotel is adorned with beautiful handcrafted woodwork, period wallpaper, and the largest collection of American Victorian walnut antiques which are used to decorate the hotel and guestrooms. Offering distinctive accommodations in the spirit of the Old West, the historic Rochester Hotel and Leland House are small family-owned hotels. Both inns offer a complimentary gourmet breakfast served every morning in the Rochester Hotel lobby and homemade cookies in the afternoon. Built in 1892, the Rochester offers 15 uniquely spacious rooms with high ceilings and private bathrooms. The hotel is situated on a beautifully landscaped site. Rooms are decorated in Old West motif inspired by Western movies filmed in the Durango area. Movie posters framed in marquee lights line the hallways. The Leland House offers 12 elegant rooms in a restored brick apartment building built in 1927. Queen Suites feature a gas fireplace in the living room, kitchen, bedroom with en-suite bath. Each room is themed after an historic figure associated with the Leland House. The hallways are lined with historic photos of Durango, telling the story of Durango’s wild west.
