Durango, Colo--The Durango Area Tourism Office (DATO) announces the election of seven new or re-elected Board of Directors members with terms starting January 1, 2009.
Three members have been re-elected to the Board. These members include:
Gary Penington, Fort Lewis College/Southwest Video Production - Special Events and Entertainment Attractions
Pat Armstrong, Bear Paw Lodge at Vallecito Lake - Specialty Lodging
Jeff Murray, Durango Harley Davidson - Tourism Related Retail.
New Board members include:
Kirk Komick, Leland House Bed and Breakfast & Rochester Hotel - Hospitality/Lodging Industry
Kris Oyler, Steamworks Brewing Co. - Restaurant Industry
Sven Brunso, Durango Mountain Resort - Winter Recreation Industry
Bob Kunkel, Business Improvement District –City of Durango Representative
Current Board members include:
Susan Lander, Music in the Mountains - Cultural/Heritage/Arts/Museums Attractions
Bob Morris, Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad – Summer Recreation Industry
Ron Dent, Durango-La Plata County Airport – Transportation Industry
Shirley Isgar, Blue Lake Ranch – La Plata County Representative
The length of term varies for each board position. One year terms include Special Events and Entertainment Attractions and Winter Recreation Industry. The Restaurant Industry is a two year term. Three year terms include: Hospitality/Lodging Industry, Specialty Lodging and Tourism Related Retail.
The DATO Board consists of eleven members that represent the tourism industry in La Plata County. The Board meets once a month and members are responsible for fairly representing all entities within their sector of the industry, participating in one of two DATO Board committees and attending the annual Board Retreat.
