Unique Vacation Lodging in Southwest Colorado

Southwestern lodgers create website for vacation planning

Durango, Colo— Ready for a quintessential Colorado mountain vacation? Unique lodgers in the Southwest Colorado area launched their new vacation website that offers a variety of lodging options for La Plata County and Montezuma County. Get away from traditional hotels and motels and escape to a cabin, B&B, lodge or ranch in the Cortez, Dolores, Durango, Mancos or Vallecito Lake area.

Southwestern lodgers in conjunction with the Durango Area Tourism Office, Dolores Chamber of Commerce and the Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce created their own website www.swcoloradouniquelodging.com/index.php to help travelers choose the perfect vacation property and lodging packages based on amenities, discounts, activities and location. The new website makes it easy to find the perfect resting spot to immerse yourself in the beauty and relaxation of the area’s breathtaking scenery, extreme outdoor adventures and diverse culture. The site was funded by a grant from the Colorado Tourism Office that supports cross-county tourism promotions and lodger’s taxes from Montezuma and La Plata Counties. “We are very grateful to our partners at the Colorado Tourism Office for providing funding to make this project possible,” says John Cohen, Executive Director for the Durango Area Tourism Office. “The area is so rich with history, adventure, beauty and events that it made sense for us all to partner.”

Southwestern Colorado has a diverse selection of activities including the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, numerous archeological sites including Mesa Verde National Park, the San Juan Mountains, stagecoach rides, boating, rafting, hiking, fishing, zip line adventures, skiing and so much more.

The need for a stronger web presence and easy booking engine has become obvious as tourists rely on the web for travel and vacation research. According to Bob Scott, Sundance Bear Lodge in Mancos, “The web has become the primary advertising venue for small lodgers.  Travelers don’t know or care about the county line between La Plata and Montezuma, and this helps break down that artificial division.  This site’s search capabilities will greatly enhance visitor’s ability to research their accommodations – they will travel with more knowledge and confidence about their vacation choices.”
