Durango Performing Arts Company presents “A Grand Night for Singing”

DURANGO, Colo., May 13, 2010—Roger’s and Hammerstein’s remarkable classics are brought up to date and infused with taste and imagination in the musical revue “A Grand Night for Singing.”

Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie and Composer Fred Wells combine the timeless songs of R&H with fresh, innovative musical arrangements including a sultry, Andrews Sisters-esque “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out-a My Hair,” a swingin’ “Honeybun” and a jazzy “Kansas City.”  Die hard R&H fans probably never imagined "Shall We Dance?" as a comic pas de deux, nor did they suspect that one day a lovelorn young lad might pose the musical question, "How do you solve a problem like Maria?", but that's precisely the kind of invention that fills this new revue.

Starring Durango’s favorite local talent, Austin Hohnke, Jessica Jane Hagemeister, Landon Newton, Elizabeth Gray, Joshua Logan and Katherine Walker, DPAC’s first professional production is sure to bring a smile to faces of all ages.

The show will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. at the Durango Arts Center, July 6th through August 12th.  Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door.  For more information, call Denise at (970) 403-8000 or e-mail her at dgopac@yahoo.com.
