Written by Durango playwright, Dinah Swan, Christmas Presence is a family Christmas musical comedy set in Durango.
A week before Christmas a typical American family, the Truemans, are free falling into holiday madness when they grudgingly agree to host a family of foreign immigrants for a few days. When the huge, outlandish Udahvelatroika family arrives (who knows where they’re from or what language they speak), they obliterate the Tureman’s usual Yuletide routine. In scenes touching and hilarious, the foreigners show their hosts the deeper meaning of Christmas.
Terry Swan, DAC Board President, directs the cast of twenty-five Durango actors and singers. Swan says, “It’s a comedy with lots of music, dance and craziness that reminds us about the traditional values of giving and loving.” Set in Durango, Christmas Presence contains many local references. A happy ending is guaranteed.
Performances are at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East 2nd Avenue in downtown Durango. For more information call 970-259-2609 or go to www.DurangoArts.org.
