DURANGO, Colo. – The Durango Business Improvement District (BID), as part of its on-going mission to enhance “Business in the BID,” will host a Town Hall meeting for constituents and any interested citizens, Thursday, Mar. 31, 2011 at the Henry Strater Theatre. Designed as a brown-bag lunch, the Town Hall will run 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.
“In our most recent Market Assessment, which focused on our constituents, increased communication was named as a top priority,” said Bob Allen, BID presiding officer. “We’ve always welcomed input from our constituents, and we’re hoping that a forum like this Town Hall will provide a more convenient opportunity for everyone to both receive an update on the activities of the BID and develop new ideas. We all have the same goal: maintaining the economic viability of Durango.”
In addition to Bob Allen (Allen & Associates), BID board members Karen Barger (Seasons Rotisserie & Grill), Rod Barker (Strater Hotel), John Wells (Wells Group) and Tim Wheeler (Durango Coffee Company) will all be on-hand and each present brief reports on their individual committee activities, including business development, parking, special event grant program, marketing and more.
“We’re counting on those in attendance to participate in the discussion,” said Bob Kunkel, BID executive director. “This is not about us being a panel of talking heads, rather we want to answer concerns from our constituents. No one has an exclusive corner on good ideas, so we want to hear from everybody.”
As Kunkel noted, questions and commentary will be taken from the audience. Those attending are also encouraged to bring their own lunch. Iced tea, water and coffee will be provided by the BID.
“The Strater is also offering several sack lunch options that must be ordered in advance,” said Pam Glasco, BID community relations coordinator, referencing the chicken salad wrap, ham and cheddar wrap or gorgonzola salad for $12, including tax and gratuity. “Contact Emily Spencer at the Strater at 970.375.7124 or espencer@strater.com, to place orders. Your lunch will be waiting for you.”
The BID Town Hall meeting is open to the public and reservations are appreciated to facilitate the room set up, but not required. To RSVP or for further information, contact Pam Glasco at 970.375.5067.
