November 4, 2011 Art Show and Inspired Talk by Jude Bischoff

A Collaborative Event with the Durango Arts Center and the Rochester Hotel

The Durango Arts Center and The Rochester Hotel will be co-hosting California Artist, Jude Bischoff, for an inspirational talk and show of Jude’s paintings at the Rochester Hotel on November 4, 2011. Jude will be speaking on “The Creative Muse, Channeling Inspiration into Amazing Results”.  The talk begins at 6 p.m.  A reception for the artist will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Jude Bischoff is an athlete, naturalist, father, dreamer and artist who revels in the natural energy of the world around him.  His art exudes his love not just of nature, but of life itself.  Through his powerful oils and bold acrylics, he channels the very essence of life, the unseen driving forces of the universe, into something seeable and knowable. Paintings of dancing landscapes with buildings moving to the energy of the people and birds flying wild set the stage for the encumbrances of a life well lived.

Everything Jude does, he does with passion and fervor, whether mountain biking, rock climbing, experimenting with art, drinking wine with his friends, or just gazing at the stars from the solitude of a desert campsite.  Jude is an intense, complex, insightful, self-effacing soul whose hearty laugh and earthy handshake echo the inner strength that guides him on exotic, off-the-beaten path adventures.  Jude will speak at the event about his creative process:

My art reflects life’s dance and the vitality I encounter when negotiating the outdoor landscape or exploring our shared humanity.  The awe I find around me swims through my paintings like fat bellied fish in a surreal colored mountain stream.  At the heart of my creativity is a profound playfulness and connection to the known and the great-unknown.   These seemingly disparate images I paint demonstrate the untamed spirit and rhythms that flows through all things and presents itself freely in dreams and imagination.

I live to paint and share my love of the volatile energy found everywhere in the natural universe—icy restless peaks, opaque water pools, the exceptional humanity and beauty of human endeavor and in the supernatural universe— the spirit world casting its energy through rocks, ravines, chasms, and human behavior.

Every line, brush stroke, and color field represents a myriad of ideas and thoughts brought together like a series of seismic eruptions forming an immense mountain. Just as Mammoth Mountain did not exist 100,000 years ago, my latest painting did not exist two weeks ago.  I love this about art.

Jude’s work is collected throughout the United States.  His work appears on wine labels, in tasting rooms and in many publications including a recent cover of Wine and Travel Magazine.  For more on Jude’s work visit his web site at www.judebischoff.com or contact him at judebischoff@gmail.com.
