DURANGO, Colo. – The storm over the holiday weekend dropped nearly a foot of snow at Purgatory, with 8 inches falling within the last 24 hours. The new snow freshens the already great conditions at Purgatory.
“The quality of the snow is fantastic, providing incredible powder conditions on the slopes and adding to our already good base,” stated Mike McCormack, senior vice president of Mountain Operations at Durango Mountain Resort. “We’ve had some of the best conditions in the country and now with the fresh snow, the skiing is even better!”
The most recent storm brought a total of 11 inches over the weekend, and the mid-mountain snow depth is currently 43 inches. With 100 percent of beginner and intermediate trails open and 90 percent of expert terrain available, skiers and riders are able to take advantage of the fresh powder and sunny, bluebird days! Additional snowfall is in the forecast for Purgatory this week. With the latest storm and more snow predicted, the mountain operations team expects to open more expert trails this week. Details on the terrain are available via the snow report at http://skipurg.com/index.cfm/fa/snowreport.home.
