Animas River Days
June 8-10th, 2012
Durango, CO – Animas River Days flows into town, June 8-10, with whitewater races, live music, and family and dog friendly activities! There is something for everyone during the three-day celebration that honors the Animas River.
Events will kick-off on June 8th with the Second Annual Local Media Contest, featuring the best of local adventures through film and photography, and the Reel Paddling Film Festival, an international film tour with the best kayaking, canoeing, SUP and fishing action of the year. Doors open at the Smiley Building at 6 pm.
Saturday heats up with the return of whitewater slalom and boatercross. We haven’t forgotten our fury friends either - dog fetching, costumes and best trick contests will brighten every pet-lovers day. And, don’t miss the beer garden with all-day live music starting a noon.
The evening starts on Saturday with the much anticipated River Days Costumed Parade, which is followed by a post-parade party at Ska Brewing and features the band formerly known as Cosmic Accident.
Sunday will keep fans on the edge of the river with the downriver race, kayak and inflatable rodeos, and SUP races. Winners of the “Clean-up the Animas” contest also will be announced.
