The Fort Lewis College Concert Choir and Men’s Choir, in conjunction with the Fort Lewis College Chamber Orchestra will be presenting “I Dream A World”
This Wednesday, February 23, 7:00 pm in the Community Concert Hall. Other instrumentalists and Durango High School choirs will also be featured on the evening’s performance.
The highlight of the evening is the collaborative performance of Karl Jenkins’ “The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace.” This 20 movement work for symphony orchestra and choir has been shortened into a choral suite and re-orchestrated for strings, brass, percussion and flute by the composer. Every piece selected by the Fort Lewis College ensembles carries a similar message of peace. Other highlights include the Men’s Ensemble singing Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia,” and the titled piece of the evening, “I Dreamed A World”, Andre’ Thomas’s setting of the poem by Langston Hughes.
