DURANGO, COLORADO – The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is offering a unique way to ring in the New Year with an opportunity to ride the train at night. The train will travel 26 miles to Cascade Canyon and back to Durango. New this year, the railroad will participate in Durango’s inaugural “First Night” celebration downtown.
The train will arrive back in Durango at approximately 11:45 pm, near the site of the midnight Snowflake drop. The train will blow the whistle at midnight and passengers will be able to watch the Snowflake drop before returning to the depot.
The festive evening begins at 5:00 pm at the Historic Strater Hotel where guests will enjoy live music and a cash bar; a sit-down dinner begins at 5:30 pm. The train departs the Durango depot at 7:15 pm. Onboard, passengers will enjoy live musical entertainment, desserts, cash bar, party favors, and complimentary champagne (or sparkling cider) with a keepsake champagne flute.
Premium seating on the Cinco, Alamosa Parlor Car or Prospector is $224* per person (ages 21 and over). Deluxe-Class seating in the San Juan is $204* per person (ages 16 and over) and Standard-Class seating is $144* for adults and $124* for children (ages 4 -11). *Fares are subject to 4% Historic Preservation Fee.
