Autumn in Colorado is on it’s way, which means it won’t be long until the high country is peppered with brilliant orange, red and gold hues! The Aspen Tree is a unique species with a root system that spreads underground, making a colony of Aspens one of the largest living organisms in the world! This type of root system also helps protect the trees from forest fires (since they are protected underground) and allows groves of aspens to live for thousands of years!

Aspen trees might be more well known for their foliage, though, as their leaves morph each fall from a shimmering green to the exquisite colors that have become so well known in Colorado. It’s not unusual for travelers to make a yearly pilgrimage to Southwest Colorado to witness this unique and beautiful change!

One of the best ways to see the fall colors is to journey into the heart of the Colorado high country on an open-air jeep trail tour or aboard the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad! Here at Mild to Wild, we know it can be difficult to really get up into the high country with that 2-wheel drive rental car, so let us help plan your excursion and schedule a guided jeep trail tour to complete your Colorado experience! We are even offering a 10% discount on all future jeep tour reservations (excluding packages)!
