Wave Farewell to 2018 at these 6 New Year’s Eve Events

26 Dec, 2018

Cue the fireworks! Pop the champagne! Wax those skis! New Year's in Durango is finally here!

It’s time to welcome the New Year in proper alpine style on a night you’ll never forget. Whatever kind of year you had in 2018, make sure it ends in your favorite mountain town. From black tie affairs to a roaring twenties soiree, these are the top 6 events on December 31st we’re most looking forward to!

Second Chance Prom and a Black Tie Fundraiser | The Irish Embassy

On very few occasions do we dress to the nines in Durango, but at the Irish Embassy’s Second Chance Prom, anything is possible. Proper attire is required at this fundraising event, featuring a prefix menu with five top shelf whiskey and wine pairings, served butler style. Only fifty tickets are available to this elite function, which will include a midnight champagne toast and the crowning of the Prom King and Queen at 1am, so check in fast to secure your spot.

New Year's Celebration | Purgatory Mountain Resort

A buffet-style dinner, carving station, build-your-own hot chocolate bar, champagne and parade are just a few of our favorite parts of Purgatory’s annual New Year's party. Spend your entire day skiing then kick off your boots for a warm, community dinner. ‘People You Know’ will be playing at 7pm in Purgy’s Dining Room. You can bring the whole family or drop the kids off at 5:30 to enjoy some adult time. The torchlight parade kicks off at 6pm, with fireworks, live music, and dancing.

Throwback Music Party | Animas City Theatre

If ringing in the new year with a 60’s throwback theme sounds up your alley, you’ll be welcome with open arms the Animas City Theatre’s live music event. Take the opportunity to forget all the stress of the year and live in the music with funky bands Elder Grown, J-Calvin, and Mesquite. Of course, we’ll celebrate at midnight with a champagne toast. Tickets are $25 each to this adult-only event and doors will open at 8pm.

The Roaring 20s Party of the Year | Derailed Pour House

The Derailed Prohibition Style New Year’s celebration is your last chance of 2018 to live your best life. Have a roaring good time with champagne, appetizers, a keepsake glass, swag to win, and even an official balloon drop. VIP tickets, selling for $100, include a table and guaranteed seating along the creme de la creme. General admission tickets are available for $50, so don’t wait. The party starts at 5pm.

The Black and White Party | Cantera

Drink, dance, and be merry at Cantera’s New Year's evening. Durango’s Mexican cantina is ready to show you a world of VIP treatment. The four-hour event will begin at 9 and feature a champagne toast, and VIP booth access for those who purchase the $150 ticket package. Expect chocolate dipped strawberries, Moet and Candon bubbles, and unlimited appetizers and drink specials.

Red, White, and Buckin’ Blue New Years | Wild Horse Saloon

Durango’s one and only downtown honky tonk celebrates the New Year in its own authentic way. Find a dance partner or bring your own, cut a rug, and enjoy the live music of our country music scene. For only $25, VIP tickets grant you private access to the second level for food, champagne, and good company.
