Animas River Days is a nonprofit organization in Durango, Colorado, dedicated to celebrating the Animas River's role in our community by providing a venue for public gathering with whitewater competitions as well as education of the community regarding waterway resources and conservation.

Animas River Days is June 2nd to 4th! 

Film Night and Kick-Off Party: Thursday, June 2nd at Durango Arts Center, doors open at 5:30 p.m.  Films this year are sure to appeal to boaters and non-paddlers alike, with a wide diversity of topics matching the theme "Celebrate Local Wild Rivers"  This year's feature film, "River Of Sorrow", is a film about the Dolores River with introduction by guest host and producer Cody Perry.  Film trailer: Tickets available at Maria's Bookshop, 4 Corner's Riversports and online at  $12 in advance, $14 at the door. 

Race Registrations and Prelims: Friday, June 3rd at Santa Rita Park, 3-6 pm.  Prelims for: SUP Surf, River Surf and Kayak Freestyle. Also, all event registrations will be Friday afternoon at Whitewater Park, 3-6 pm. Note: Saturday event registration will cost $5 more per event. 

ANIMAS RIVER DAYS: Saturday, June 4th, 8:30 am to 8:00 pm, at Santa Rita Park. Events include: kayak and canoe slalom, stand-up paddle slalom, raft race, boatercross, SUP cross, river surf competition, freestyle kayak rodeo. Cash prizes for competitors, all event registration on Friday, June 3rd, 3-6 pm!

  • Ska Beer Garden open at noon and food vendors open at 11 am.
  • Enter the yellow ducky race for a chance to WIN a stand-up paddle board.  
  • Don't miss the local's favorite Boat Parade and Parade Viewing Party at Santa Rita Park, 6:00 pm - dark.  Food and Beer Garden remain open!
  • Go green and avoid parking headaches by riding your bike or carpooling to the event. PARKING IS LIMITED. No parking on Hwy 550 or Hwy 3 as you will be ticketed and towed by the City of Durango. Overflow parking available in the dirt lot behind 4 Corner's Riversports (a short walk down the river path to Santa Rita Park).
