The Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering, taking place October 5th - 8th, 2017, is a non-profit organization working to preserve and perpetuate the traditions of working ranch people in the American West since 1989.

Headquarters for the Cowboy Poetry Gathering is in the Strater Hotel from October 5th - 8th, 2017.  Many free performances of cowboy poetry and music are held in various locations in downtown Durango.  Weekend events also include the Cowboy Poet Train on the historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, Cowboy Poet Trailride at Rapp Corral, Western Variety Show at the Durango Arts Center and receptions at many local galleries.  The highlight of the weekend is on Saturday, October 7th, with a Cowboy Chuckwagon Breakfast at 7am followed by the "motorless" Cowboy Parade at 10am on Main Avenue. FREE sessions of cowboy poetry and music follow at the Strater Hotel from 10:30am to 4:20pm.  Don't miss this family friendly event!

Ticket prices for shows of cowboy poetry and music range from $10 to $40 depending on the show.  Many daytime performances are free.  Please visit our website for complete ticket information.
