The Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering is a non-profit organization working to preserve and perpetuate the traditions of working ranch people in the American West since 1989.

Headquarters for the Gathering is in the Strater Hotel October 5th - 8th, 2017.  Many free performances of cowboy poetry and music are held in various locations of downtown Durango.  Events also include the Cowboy Poet Train on the  DSNGRR, Cowboy Poet Trailride at  Rapp Corral, Western Variety Show at the Durango Arts Center and receptions at many local galleries.  Highlight of the weekend is Saturday October 7th which starts with a Cowboy Chuckwagon Breakfast at 7am folowed by the "motorless" Cowboy Parade 10am on Main Avenue. FREE sessions of cowboy poetry and music follow at the Strater Hotel from 10:30am to 4:20pm  This Gathering is a family friendly event!
 

Ticket prices for shows of cowboy poetry and music range from $10 to $40 depending on the show.  Many daytime performances are free.  Please visit our website for complete ticket information.
