Durango Cowboy Gathering, Horse Back Social and Parade

The 36th annual Durango Cowboy Gathering will be held October 2-6, however our local educational programs and community outreach is a year-around project. We teach harmonica classes to over 300 local 5th grade students, mentor and host western art and poetry student contests and provide numerous assemblies to the schools and senior care facilitates throughout the year.

During the Gathering itself, we have evening performances from invited professional western musicians and poets on 10/2-10/5.

Friday is the Cowboy Mosey where we encourage all businesses to have employees dress western and promote local businesses downtown with performers at various locations downtown Durango, and a Western Gallery Walk hosted by Sorrel Sky and Toh-Atin Galleries. Saturday, we start the day off with family, fun filled events to include the Horse Back Social (new), parade, wild west shoot out reenactment, petting coral, kids and horses, quick draw (drawing) contest and the afternoon/evening is filled with poetry and music.
