Matthew Sievers: The Memory of Moments

Experience the bold, expressive world of Matthew Sievers in The Memory of Moments, a new exhibition of paintings on view at Blue Rain Durango from July 16 to July 31, 2025. The artist will attend a reception on July 18th from 5–8 p.m. and will offer a live demonstration of his technique on July 19th from 2–4 p.m.

Matthew Sievers’ distinctive style is marked by spontaneous brushwork and bold palette knife technique, lending a visceral texture and vibrancy to each piece. By layering thin applications of oil paint, he achieves a striking depth in his vibrant landscapes. For Sievers, painting is both an exploration and a joy, a space where creative intuition meets disciplined craft. Based in Idaho, he continues to pursue new inspiration, pushing the boundaries of his medium while staying rooted in the emotional resonance that defines his work.
