Each night is uniquely different in the D&S yard. Night photo shoots will capture the evening routine of loading the tender with coal, filling the sand dome from the sand tower, emptying the ash pan, and turning on the turntable. The Durango & Silverton will be running Silverton trains on Friday. This is great news for the night photo shoot as it lends itself to more hot locomotives to photograph while in the roundhouse and on the turntable. The schedule of photographic positions will change based on the service schedule the roundhouse has to perform on locomotives. The roundhouse crew is always helpful and plans to stage and move locomotives upon request.
Space is limited to only 25 guests. This small group will allow a more intimate opportunity to get unique shots. Only ticket holders riding either Fall Photo Special excursion will have the opportunity to participate in the Night Photography sessions. If there are any spaces available 24 hours before the night session, they will go up for sale to the general public. Professional lighting will be provided.
The evening begins in the Durango Depot at 7:45pm and after a brief orientation, all participants will receive an ID badge and will be on first name basis with our Safety Compliance officer. The session will begin at 8:00pm and continue shooting until about 10:00pm.
