The Mushroom & Wine Festival presented by Vectra Bank has become a “wildly” popular event on Durango’s summer calendar. The forested area around the Resort is known far and wide for having an abundance of wild mushrooms. Our Mushroom & Wine Festival celebrates this abundance with guided mushroom hunts and a culinary showcase of Durango’s finest restaurants.
Friday Night Dinner
Join us in the exclusive Durango Mountain Club for an exquisite dining experience. Enjoy a five-course meal with wine pairings.
This dinner is priced at $100 per person, which includes tax and gratuity.
Note that seating for this special dinner is limited to 75 guests, and we do expect it to sell out.

Local mushroom experts take small groups far back on the mountain to explore the forest for a wide variety of mushrooms. Your guides will assist you with identifying different types of mushrooms and provide helpful information along the way. Refreshments and transportation up the mountain are included. Guests have the option of enjoying our scenic chair lift on your way up and down the mountain.
The guided foray is priced at $39 per person.
9:30am – 12:45pm. Meet in the plaza in the base area.
Mushroom Cooking & Wine Pairing Class
Join the chef from the Ore House, along with our wine sommelier, as they lead a discussion on the subtle secrets of cooking with mushrooms and pairing wines with mushrooms. These two have tons of knowledge and they are eager to share it with you!
This class is just $20 and is limited to 25 guests.
1 – 2pm in Hoody’s Lodge.
In the afternoon, five of Durango’s finest restaurants, plus our own chefs at Purgatory Resort, will share their favorite mushroom-inspired dishes! Each dish includes a wine pairing personally selected by the chef. The event also includes live music from State 38.
This is an afternoon that your taste buds won’t soon forget!
The culinary extravaganza is priced at $45 for adults and $30 for guests under the age of 21.
2 – 4:30pm in Purgy’s.
Each year we invite five great local restaurants to participate in the culinary showcase on Saturday afternoon. Our own chefs from Purgy’s also participate in the festival with their own mushroom dish and a mushroom dessert.
Our goal is to partner with the finest restaurants in Durango to make this a truly exceptional experience for our guests.
