Horseback Riding and Winter Sleigh Rides in the Southwest Colorado Mountains
Visit Rapp Corral and take in the beautiful San Juan Mountains the way they're supposed to be enjoyed- on horseback! Rapp Corral trail rides will bring you through spectacular aspen groves and tall pines, where wildlife has been known to stroll right across your path. We are one of Durango’s favorite horseback riding and winter sleigh adventure venues. The Corral is located just 20 miles north of historic downtown Durango at the entrance to beautiful Haviland Lake.
One of Durango's longest-running horseback riding and winter sleigh venues, our Corral is family operated and made up of a team of experienced wranglers and well-trained, well-cared for horses. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider, Anne Rapp and her team are sure to make your western horseback experience one for the memory books. A wrangler for movies and TV series and a local guide for horseback riding, packing, and sleigh rides since 1981, Anne Rapp has the experience and knowledge to guide riders through some of the most picturesque mountain landscapes in Southwest Colorado.
There's no better place to ride horses and no better way to experience Colorado and the San Juan Mountains! Rapp Corral offers a variety of riding options, from one hour rides to custom adventures and unique winter sleigh trips. With small groups, flexible schedules, amazing trails and an expert team of wranglers, Rapp Corral maintains its reputation as one of Durango’s favorites, a Trip Advisor winner, and one of USA Today’s Top 10 Picks.
In addition to trail rides, Rapp Corral has offered custom horse drawn sleigh rides in the winter wonderland between Durango and Purgatory Ski Area since 1984. Sleigh rides are a great idea for family fun, a work party, a friends get together, or a romantic sleigh ride for two! From our cozy two-person sleigh to the larger sleighs that can carry 10 adults comfortably, there is something for every group. Come enjoy the jingle of the horses, the brisk mountain air and the amazing scenery with us! We begin our sleigh ride season as weather conditions allow (usually the second week of December), and then stop offering sleigh rides when conditions are no longer favorable (typically the last week in February). But check back with us because you never know what the weather will bring!
