The City of Durango and Visit Durango understand the important role that special events play in improving the quality of life for residents and in attracting visitors to the area. In early 2022 the City of Durango City Council earmarked a portion of the new lodger's tax funds for the support of local event marketing. Visit Durango’s Board of Directors formed a community Events Task Force to create a process for systematically and strategically distributing this funding.
For events taking place in 2022, the Events Task Force is accepting funding requests via the form below on an ongoing basis. Requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. For events taking place in 2023, the Events Task Force plans to publish a formal Local Event Marketing Grant Application in June of 2022.
All Funding from this Program Must be Used for Marketing-Related Programs.
All requests for funding will be reviewed initially by staff for thoroughness. Event organizers will be notified if any additional information is needed for Events Task Force consideration.
