Destination Advancement Grant
The purpose of the Destination Advancement Grant is to further strengthen La Plata County as a socially and environmentally sustainable destination to live and visit.
Projects the grant supports aim to:
- lessen social and environmental impact of tourism
- promote diversity, equity, inclusion
- support/enhance ongoing local sustainability initiatives
- develop new sustainable tourism business
Example Projects
- Improvements to existing infrastructure to increase accessibility and/or decrease resource use
- Eco-friendly tourism offerings
- Workforce improvements/training/development

This grant is funded by local lodgers' taxes collected by the City of Durango and La Plata County. Therefore, all projects should enhance both the visitor and resident experience while promoting climate resiliency in La Plata County.
