Come join Horsefly History Tours: History With a Bite! as we venture back in time to search for the hidden history lurking just out of sight in Durango. History tours can be boring but our walking tours reveal the darker side of Durango's past; thus, "History With a Bite!"
Learn about Durango’s Wild West history and the characters and events that have shaped this town since it was founded in 1880 by the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. On our walking tours you will learn about the gunfights, ghosts, “soiled doves” and madams, outlaws, and the town’s one and only legal hanging. Durango has intriguing treasures to reveal…if only you know where to look.
Starting September 26, 2019 the Underground Ghost Tour will be Halloween themed. The underground tunnel that we take guests into at the end of the tour will have more of a haunted house feel. Comfortable walking shoes will make the tour more enjoyable. Fall in Durango can be chilly so please be prepared with layers. We will be entering operating businesses so we request respectful etiquette so as not to disturb patrons. There will be opportunities to sit down if need be. We will be walking the Durango sidewalks which are uneven at times. Customers need to be able to keep pace with a group as we will have a lot of ground to cover. In addition, the Underground Halloween tour will have a photographer at the end if you would like a spooky picture snapped. You will receive a digital copy for $15. Guests will also receive glow necklaces.
