Durango is already known for our outdoor recreation scene here, drawing in big name, world renowned bikers, skiers, kayakers, rafters, and outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds year round. 

Need a gym? We have you covered! Need courts? A pool? Fields? A track? We have them all! Fort Lewis College, home of the Skyhawks, can host sporting events of all kinds. The Smith Sports complex is complete with soccer, football, softball and baseball fields, as well as an indoor gym. The view from Fort Lewis showcases the beauty that sits in our own backyard, encouraging you to retreat to the mountains for some R n R after all your hard work. 

In town, you will find more baseball fields at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. The Fairgrounds also has a fully equipped arena for horse racing and rodeo events. Treat your golf athletes to breathtaking views and championship-caliber golf courses. Scattered around town you will find dozens of gyms, fields, open spaces, rinks, courts, river access and skate parks. Lucky for you, our 6 square mile town makes it easy to get to each location in a short drive or bike ride through town. 

On top of all that, the community recreation center has everything you could want. Pools, gyms, courts…

Athletes travel from around the world to experience the terrain that surrounds Durango in the San Juan and La Plata Mountains. Thousands of miles of single track, elevation to challenge top riders, views to make each stride worth it, trailheads beginning from town, Durango will be the perfect location for your mountain event.
