Here’s a four-day itinerary for your upcoming Summer Break vacation in Durango, CO:

Day 1

One of the first things anyone has to do while visiting Durango is taking a ride on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Not only are the views up to Silverton great, but Silverton itself is such a spectacular historic town. Take advantage of all the attractions, views, historic buildings, and make sure to grab a souvenir t-shirt! 

  • Hop on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge train

  • Grab a bagel and coffee at Durango Bagel before you board the train

  • Tour downtown Silverton and buy a t-shirt at Fetch’s

  • Eat lunch at Golden Block Brewery

  • Enjoy dinner overlooking the river at south Serious Texas BBQ 

Day 2

On day 2, get outside and enjoy the weather. Go for a hike up north and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Have fun soaking up in one of the many hot spring mineral pools at the Durango Hot Springs and for dinner have fun at the Bar D Chuckwagon. 

  • Enjoy a hearty breakfast at Lone Spur Cafe

  • Hike Pass Creek Trail on Hwy 550 north

  • Rest and refuel with a meal at the Nugget Cafe

  • Stop at Durango Hot Springs for a few hours

  • Take in dinner and a show at the Bar D Chuckwagon Suppers

Day 3

While you're in town, make sure to stop by Mesa Verde, it’s a must-see for anyone visiting the Southwest. After you visit Mesa Verde, catch live music and have dinner at some of our favorite local places.  

  • Grab breakfast at Oscar’s Cafe

  • Drive to Mesa Verde National Park and spend the day hiking and exploring the sites

  • Stop at Spruce Tree Terrace in the park for a quick lunch

  • Have a drink and listen to live music at The Office

  • Have dinner on the rooftop patio at Zia’s Taqueria

Day 4

Before heading back home, make sure to take some time to relax and take it easy. Enjoy spending time in town and shop around some of the local downtown stores. Have lunch in the downtown area and enjoy the scenery one more time up north before you leave. 

  • Grab breakfast at Hermosa Roasters

  • Wander downtown on Main Avenue, stopping in at numerous stores

  • Buy a book and postcards at Maria’s Bookshop

  • Have lunch at Carver Brewing

  • Go for a stroll on the Animas River Trail

  • Eat ice cream at Cream Bean Berry

  • Have dinner at James Ranch
